Rock Hawk

Commissioned by the University of Kansas Alumni Association, "Rock Hawk" is inspired by the historic architecture found on KU's main campus. The design commemorates the University's rich history through the symbols and strengths of its classic architecture. It also honors a deep appreciation for the original artisans who used only simple tools, tenacity and vision to create powerful lasting legacies. KU's many campuses are included on the base, while the iconic red tile roofs and chiseled limestone block are reflected on the body of the bird. The beak is a homage to the gothic windows of Watson Library, and many other "hidden" charms from Spooner, Dyche, and Twente Halls are included.
