ILLUSTRATION & COMMISSIONS

By definition, representational work is recognizable and often familiar in content. For me, this genre of work has often involved commissions with specific uses such as posters, brochures, promotional pieces, fundraisers and other commercial applications. In creating these pieces, I have enjoyed researching complex subject matter and composition, relatable presentation and given my best homage and effort to the natural and human history of place within the parameters of each of the respective jobs. As a younger artist, I felt a strong pull to produce traditional images that people could relate to and feel comfortable with. Now, years later, I continue to use my freelance years as a springboard in artistic evolution toward less conventional and predictable work. Every day I remain grateful for the many clients and buyers who afforded me this foundation of skill and experience upon which to build, explore and expand my artistic boundaries.
